It’s your responsibility to make sure your needs are met.

  • Employers will take as much work from you as you let them
  • Your family will take as much energy from you as you let them
  • Your community will take as much time from you as you let them

The list goes on. The world is full of needs.

Give your life to service, compassion, and love. The world needs more of this.

But know that the never-ending needs of others are often met by extracting energy from those noble souls around them.

So remember to take time to rejuvenate yourself. Your needs are on no one else’s to-do list.

  • Exhausted at work? You need to push back on unrealistic expectations.
  • A tired parent? You need to make room in your day for a break.
  • Unfulfilled in life? You need to make room for activities that bring you joy.

There’s a difference between losing yourself in the service of others and drowning yourself in the service of others.

The former implies you’re on a positive journey of self-discovery.

The latter implies you’re just slowing dying.
