You Can Always Say “No”

Just because someone asks you to do something, doesn’t mean you have to do it.

Doesn’t matter if that person is your spouse, your boss, your child, your religious leader, etc.

Most of the time these individuals are well intentioned, but they only see a limited side of you. And to them, that side of you is the most important.

As such,

  • Your boss will always want you to work more
  • Your family/friends will always want you to spend more time with them
  • Your religious leader will always want you to volunteer more

You are the only one who knows all the obligations you have. As such, it is your responsibility to balance incoming requests relative to your existing commitments.

This means — you have to get comfortable saying “no”.

If you don’t, you risk burning yourself out and dropping the ball on important promises you already made.

So stand up for yourself.
