Strengths Can Be Weaknesses
Someone close to me almost died over the weekend.
She’d been under-the-weather for about a month, but she’s a “tough girl”. She refused to complain, or let anyone know. She thought she could just “ride it out”.
Then last week, everything got exponentially worse and she went to the ER.
She had kidney failure. She had sepsis. Her body was going through shock.
If she had waited even a few more hours, she could have died.
Core issue? Her strength. Her strength was her weakness.
Her strong grit and willpower caused her to not ask for help sooner, when the condition was milder and easier to be treated.
But by refusing help, she instead brought herself close to death.
Beware your strengths — they can put unintentional blind spots into how you evaluate the world around you.
