Stop Working so Hard

You work hard anticipating a reward at the end — but sometimes the reward doesn’t come.

  • You don’t land that job
  • You don’t win the contract
  • You don’t get that promotion
  • You don’t win in that competition

The list goes on.

It’s in those moments that you realize — were all the months and years of “suck’ leading up to that failed outcome worth it? Will you ever get back all the time and energy you sunk in?

Sure — you grow in other ways along the journey. But if you hated the journey, was it worth doing at all?

Focus on finding joy in the journey, first.

If the path you’re on isn’t sustainable — or only sustainable due to a vision of some future reward outside your control, re-think the path you’re on.

Find something you’re passionate about and pursue that instead.

Yes, you may still fail — but the upside is that, at least, you had fun along the way!
