Just because you plan to do the “right thing” doesn’t mean that task will be easy. (The “right thing” as defined by “actions closely aligned with your belief system”)

In fact, doing the “right thing” often means doing the “difficult thing”. Staying centered in that difficult time is important as:

  1. You can’t rely on the outward results of your work (i.e. we can’t control if other people will partner with us to complete a task — you may fail)
  2. And, you can’t rely on the approval of others (i.e. they may have different values and push back on you consistently).

Thus we have to be emotionally resilient and independent. Our sense of worth has to be internal.

It may be lonely at times, but others will grow to respect you for it.
