You finished your education
Your portfolio is ready
You had several interviews
And you finally got your first offer!

You see the proposed salary on paper and think … “is that enough?”
“What should I expect?”
“Do I accept it?”

“What am I worth?”

So… I should expect the industry average, right?

A quick Google Search for Average Junior Software Engineer Salary shows that in the United States you can expect $87,840… (source)

So that’s what you should see on the offer, right?
Well… actually… not at all

Average salary means some juniors are paid substantially more ($127,000+), while others are paid substantially less ($47,000)

So which one are you? And how do you know if you’re…

Above average?
Below average?
Or just average, average? 🤷‍♂️

You’ve never actually worked as a developer in a professional context before. You’ve individually programmed some great side projects, sure, but most likely you’ve never…

  • coded in a team…
