Find Happiness Through an Abundance Mindset

The world is full of energy, opportunity, and resources.

If you approach these with a scarcity mindset, you actually force an unequal share of resources, which self-imposes limits to your own happiness:

For example:

  • Upcoming pandemic? You buy more bread than you need, which causes you to spend more, and limits others who may actually need it
  • Upcoming recession? You make a run on the bank, causing you to lose money on any interest earned and exacerbates the bank’s liquidity problem.
  • Upcoming lay-offs? You work hard to keep a job you hate, out of fear you can’t find a better one. This prevents you from finding happiness elsewhere, or someone else finding happiness in your place

A scarcity mindset causes you grab more than you can consume now and shifts your focus to protectionist activities instead of growth opportunities.

Sure — prepare for a rainy day. But once that’s done, embrace an abundance mentality so you can let go of these self-defeating activities that prevent you from reaching true happiness.
